Revolutionary Rural Healthcare
Frey Medical Management is on a mission to revitalize struggling rural hospitals and transform them into thriving, community-centered healthcare hubs
RURAL HOSPITALS DON'T HAVE TO CLOSE!
Frey Medical Management is on a mission to revitalize struggling rural hospitals and transform them into thriving, community-centered healthcare hubs. We acquire under-performing facilities in underserved areas and implement our proven turnaround strategies to improve operational efficiency, expand service offerings, and deliver high-quality care to patients. Our unique approach addresses a critical problem facing many rural communities - the lack of access to reliable, affordable healthcare. By investing in these hospitals and empowering them to better serve local residents, we aim to improve health outcomes, create jobs, and strengthen the economic foundations of the communities we serve. Frey Medical Management, founded by Michael and Natalie Frey, has dedicated over a decade to re-imagining rural healthcare delivery. Our unique approach redefines hospital sustainability by shifting the focus from traditional, capital-intensive inpatient operations to an integrated outpatient network. By targeting facilities with rural health clinics that operate on a cost-based revenue model, we extend our reach beyond local boundaries—providing critical medical and psychiatric care to nursing homes that struggle to meet their patients' needs. Leveraging Medicare and Medicaid services, our hospital-based clinics deliver on-site "domiciliary" visits for patients residing in long-term care facilities. Together with our longstanding partner group that services nursing homes across the Southeast, we immediately increase hospital census, expand access beyond the hospital walls, minimize unnecessary emergency room visits, and create new revenue streams; effectively transforming distressed facilities into profitable, community-centered healthcare hubs.
A striking testament to our strategy is our pilot program in a southeastern Kentucky hospital. Facing imminent closure, the facility experienced a dramatic turnaround under our leadership—within just over a year, our targeted interventions propelled gross revenue past $50 million. This success underscores the transformative potential of our data-driven, locally informed approach. Building on this robust foundation, we are actively pursuing investment to strategically acquire underperforming hospitals throughout the southeastern region that have yet to fully realize their operational and revenue potential. In parallel, we are expanding access to advanced specialty care--from stroke and cardiac services to diabetic, hepatitis C, infusion wellness, and orthopedic care--by collaborating with larger health systems to further establish these hospitals as comprehensive healthcare centers. Drawing on over a decade of experience running inpatient psychiatric facilities at Acadia Health and a profound commitment to aiding recovering addicts, Michael Frey developed the Sound Sobriety initiative—a unique, hospital-based program designed to address the critical mental health and substance use challenges prevalent in rural communities. Sound Sobriety has garnered support from numerous A-list artists who will mentor and instruct therapeutic classes. National data reveal that drug overdoses have become the leading cause of injury and death in rural areas, with rates now exceeding those in urban centers. Moreover, nearly 40.3 million Americans have been affected by substance use disorders with only 6% of those receiving appropriate treatment, and approximately 26% of Americans report mental health issues—all compounded by a severe shortage of mental health and substance abuse services. Far from a conventional 28-day rehabilitation unit, Sound Sobriety uniquely integrates music therapy, songwriting, art, and graphic design into its comprehensive treatment regimen. Offering a continuum of care—from medically supervised detox through a 28-day inpatient program to a step-down intensive outpatient program—Sound Sobriety not only promotes lasting recovery but also provides alternatives to incarceration for drug offenders ,helping with the overcrowding of jails in these small communities.
With a proven track record of transforming at-risk hospitals into thriving, sustainable institutions and a forward-thinking, community-focused model, Frey Medical Management is uniquely positioned to lead the transformation of rural healthcare. Our comprehensive approach delivers robust financial returns for investors while creating meaningful, lasting impact for underserved communities.
